Is this a good golf score for a freshman on a varsity golf team?

ok im a freshman and i play guys varsity golf my average for this year was an 86.8 is this good?

An 86.8 average at the very least means that in your life, you will be able to comfortably play golf with people of all levels and you will have the respect of most golfers. So yes, 86.8 is an excellent average at any age.

You are the only one who can answer the question, “Is it good enough” and that will depend on what you want to get from the game of golf. Do you want to be the best player on your team by the time you’re a Senior. Do you want to be one of the best players in your region or state? Do you want to play in college? Division I, II or III?

Setting goals is a great idea and then you can see if your desired level of effort (practice) matches up with your goals. Best of luck to you.
