How can I design a golf course?

I love the game of golf and I thought of becoming an architect, when I grow up to the possibility of designing courses. What is a good way to start practicing the course design?

Since you are just starting out, drawing on a piece paper. Then you can make it more elaborate (possibly in 3D or something). Make sure you know much about the game, you have to know where to put tee boxes, footage, that the holes are par 3/4/5, rough start, the slopes of the Greens and the hole in general, the landscape, where risks are placed …. many things you should consider.
