Need Help with Golf Surprise….Newbie to Golf has questions?
I am going to be seeing my out of town boyfriend this week and I want to surprise him by taking him out for an afternoon of golf. He has been going through alot lately and his previous grilfriend wouldn’t golf with him nor could he do anything without her, so he hasn’t found time or been able to golf for about four years now although he loves it. I don’t know if I should take him to a driving range (keep in mind I have never been on a golf course) or a golf course. He is coming from out of town and this is a surprise so I don’t want to ask him to bring clubs. So do I go to a driving range or a golf course? Can I rent or borrow clubs from either one? How does that work? What is the average cost for a public course? Any advice on this idea would be much appreciated!!! Also, this would be in the Youngstown, Ohio area so any advice on where to go would also be a great help!!
P.S. We will only have one day available for this little adventure…
What a great girlfriend. I wish you both the best.
If he hasn’t played in 4 years I would go to the driving range. This will take less time and will give him a chance to get his swing back. The cost wouldn’t be too high. A large bucket of golf balls will be $12 or less. The rental clubs are tricky. How good of golfer was he? If he was good a rental set of clubs are usually a step down and not very satisfiying. However, if you go to a top end resort they may have good equipment. Pick a course near you and call them. Tell them what you are wanting to do and ask them if they have good rental clubs.
