The Course

Designed by DA Weibring, this 7300 yard, 18-hole course winds through 236 acres of varied landscape that includes manicured streets, forest borders, elevation changes and hazards to the water supplied by a 20-acre lake. That can be enjoyed by the average and skilled golfers alike, although beginners should take advantage of the white bars for most of their game. There is a reason the soft Creek was number 13 of the 1,100 courses in the state of Texas.

Soft Creek is best known for hole 9. You can only par 3, but I remember shooting over the big pond, waterfall and rock wall to reach the green. There are eight types of outlets for this.

Another challenge that faces par 3 hole 15. In 139 meters, will be fighting for every one of them. Start by shooting in a huge pond, but not go too far, or end up in the bunker just behind the green. Add to this a Pecan tree-lined street that creates a kind of wind tunnel, and make additional important club selection. Do not worry, the green is larger than most and will allow any inaccuracy or right the left.

The club features stately Lakeside Grill restaurant with covered terrace, full service shop pro, fitness room, men and Ladie's Locker rooms, games room and steam room. Training facilities include putting green, chipping green and bunkers over an acre of grass practice tees.

Gentle Creek is a course for members and offers different levels of membership:

Full membership: includes green fees, wardrobe, shoe-care, storage and cleaning of the club, balls and services for the disabled. Club Facilities may utililized by members, their spouse and children under 23, or unmarried students full-time still living at home.

Corporate members: the same privileges as Full Membership designed for corporate employees.

Senior Membership: the same privileges of Full Membership for over 65 years, with some limited departure times.

Non-Resident Membership: For those living outside a radius of 100 miles of the club and all the border counties of Collin County. They receive the same benefits to all members, but merely to Check out 4 hours a month.
