why is golf considered a sport if know one plays defense?

I think they only call it a sport so that old men can call themselves athletes. it what other so called sport are you not aloud to cheer when your in the crowd or take pictures as they swing the club they do it in baseball all the time and there the ball is actually moving 90 mph and i never seen a football player drive a go cart to the side line or down the field when the spot of the ball has changed don’t get me wrong, I know it takes talent and skill to play call but so does playing the piano or playing chess,but i don’t see anyone calling them athletes. I mean really they don’t even hold there own clubs most of the time.

Many sports have no defensive sides, swimming, running, gymnastics and so on. The idea of sports are based upon a competition with a certain degree of physical ability. That is why playing cards isn’t considered a sport.
