What are the St. Louis Blues Chances?
Now that the Blues have Halak and are working on their offense, what are the chances that Eric Johnson will become what they expected him to be? I am watching the re-run of the 2006 draft and they keep saying that Johnson was ofcourse the only secure pick in the draft being #1 above kessel, toews, backstrom, and J. Staal. Problem is, I had barely ever heard of him before this beyond the guy who wrecked his NHL career with a golf cart. So will the Blues be able to put him back together again and get him pushing out the stats similar to prongers’ anytime soon as they hoped when they drafted him?
BQ) without cheating! Describe the “Freak accident” which sat Johnson out for a season.
Johnson is a great defenseman. People need to stop comparing defensemen with offensemen. Also he didn’t wreck his NHL career with his golf kart accident. If he did he wouldn’t have made the U.S. Olympic Team. Also Backstrom wasn’t even one of the tops ones supposed to be picked. He was picked before Kessel and Brassard, which was a shock to everyone. But the Capitals thought he would be good with Ovechkin, Semin, etc, and he has.
Also just because Toews, Kessel, and Staal are doing very well with their teams, doesn’t mean they would’ve done just as well with any other team. If Toews and Staal were switched would they do just as well with the other team, maybe better, maybe worse. Chemistry is a big part of a team success.
And I like how all of the sudden the Blues get Halak and it’s like they’ve taken miracle steroids or something. A goaltender doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have the correct offense and defense.
But Johnson didn’t wreck his NHL career , or else he wouldn’t have been chosen for Team USA. He is a great defenseman. Do you think you can do better? This season alone after he supposedly “wrecked his NHL career” he had a total combination of 39 points, with 10 goals and 29 assists with the Blues in 79 games. And he also played for Team USA Olympics. Oh yeah sounds like he totally wrecked his career. His stats this season are twice as better this season than they were during the 07-08 season (before his injury). So maybe the injury, helped him??
